The
Nigerian Writers Awards is a platform organized to reward excellence,
celebrate Nigerian Writers of different genres, encourage and create a
synergy between budding and established writers in Nigeria. It is the
first of its kind awards to reward writers of different genres and
writer’s supportive brands.
The inaugural edition of the Nigerian Writers Awards ceremony held on the 6th
of February at Terra Kulture, Victoria Island Lagos saw established and
young Nigerian Writers across the country and diaspora at the event
with eight notable media houses. Twenty eight (28) Nigerian writers of
different genres were rewarded and Six (6) recognition awards were presented.
The
2016 edition will hold at a gala dinner in November 2016 in Nigeria
where Nigerian writers, youths, legends, budding and established writers
home and abroad will come together to celebrate with 24 major
categories and 30 awards. There will be nominations across the Nation
and pre-selection after the deadline for nominations; nominee list will
be released in September 2016.
The award will consider nominations of writers who have proven their worth and commitment in writing, entries will be received from individuals, private sectors, civil societies and government organisations. Start nominating your favourite people now.
